Introduction

Welcome to my final multi-genre project! This website has three main sections that examine and dissect the implications of extractive colonialism, emphasizing its effects on Indigenous communities. The recommended audience for this project is those aged 16 years and older, focusing on undergrad and graduate students. However, I would also recommend these materials to anyone interested in a critical analysis of extractive colonialism. I think this project is best suited for those in an undergrad or graduate program revolving around humanities. I believe it would further open the door to conversations around how we can change our laws and behaviours to ensure a more prosperous future for the entire planet and not just the global north.

I have created a podcast, a video, and an opinion piece with the central theme of extractive colonialism, focusing on intersectionality and our role as “first world nations” in causing extractive colonialism. My entire goal with this project is to get people to consider how their day-to-day actions play into systems of colonialism with the hope that we will make conscious efforts to change our behaviour for the better. I hope these materials will offer an enjoyable learning experience!
